Expert Review. The Royal Enfield Classic 350 offers great value for money. It’s competitively priced compared to rivals like the Honda CB350 and Jawa. Conversations with classic owners indicate most riders are pleased with the bike and after-sales service. However, some owners noted limitations in performance and features compared to competitors Timeless classic styling with modern enhancements Comfortable upright riding position Fuel-efficient engine, ideal for city and highway riding Agile handling and excellent maneuverability for easy navigation through traffic. Royal Enfield Classic 350: A little short to be called Royal. Purchase of this bike was an impulsive decision. I was inclined towards bikes with modern features. However, something about this bike made me buy it the moment I saw one in the showroom. However, after purchase the story did not remain the same. Following were the merits and demerits I faced owning this bike: Merits: 1. Looks 2. The satisfaction while taking it for a ride 3. Guaranteed second look every time you park. 4. The Royal Enfield thump, obviously Demerits: 1. Absolutely low value for money quotient 2. Poor paint job, especially around the headlights that would chip off just after 2 years 3. Pitting corrosion 4. Faulty fuel gauge - bummer for such a world class brand 5. Above all within 20k km, I had to repair/replace the throttle body twice 6. The very fact that you should accept a long range of niggles that arises on a bike that costs above 2.5 lakhs, like, never rigid rear view mirrors. Hello Fellow Riders!! Issues faced by me, 1. In rainy season, after my classic gets bath in rain.. front brakes looses its grip.. 2. Headlight is a problem.. major one.. I fixed an AUX one.. 3. Chain health is a major issue.. especially in rainy season... it needs critical care.. 4. Instrument cluster is full of glitches.. service centers can't fix them.. all of a sudden engine check light comes... stays for 2-3 days... then suddenly disappears.. Completed 13000 kms .. RE service network needs attention..

Best bike of performance or rounded bike. I recently had the chance to experience this bike, and overall, I am really impressed with it. The bike has a great design and looks stylish without being too flashy. The build quality feels solid, and the overall finish gives it a premium feel. The riding experience is smooth and comfortable, especially for daily commuting. The handling is easy, and the bike feels stable on the road. The seating position is comfortable, making it suitable for both short rides and longer journeys. The brakes provide good control, and the suspension handles normal roads and small bumps quite well. One of the things I appreciate most is how practical the bike is for everyday use. It offers a good balance of performance , comfort, and convenience. The engine feels responsive, and the bike performs well during regular city rides . The mileage is also satisfactory, which makes it a practical choice for daily travel. The service experience has been good as well. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they explain things properly whenever there is a query. Overall, I am very satisfied with the bike. It offers a good combination of looks, comfort, performance , and practicality. If you are looking for a reliable bike for everyday use, I would definitely recommend considering it. Sorry to hear all the agro you,ve had with your classic.I,ve come back to bikes in my 70,s,and bought a 2nd hand classic with 1200 mls on it ,from a chap slightly older than me,where I'll health caused him to sell.I,ve done 4500 mls this year on it,and so far it runs like a dream. The only change engine wise I,ve done is the air filter,as the original looked as though it strangled it.Would love to bin the cat and exhaust as well but,am too tight to bin a perfectly good pipe. The bike accelerates perfectly up to 60 or so then takes a bit longer to get to 70.Crossing Anglesey with my son on his new Bullitt we held 70 ,no probs.(We were going for the boat).I check the bike all the time and so far haven,t had anything come loose. All I can say is I love it,can,t wait for decent weather to get back out into the Welsh mountains.(I live in Shrewsbury).Have fun on it,keep riding, you,ll fall in love with it.

i had the same problem with the strap, i fixed the strap to a long screwdriver with a cable tie and managed to hook it over the loop and kept hold of the strap and pulled out the screwdriver leaving the cable tie on the strap for next time, as for the lights i haven't bothererd as i don't ride it at night or in the winter months, i made a plate out of alloy and drilled and tapped the side stand underneath to fix it with a 5mm allen screw so that's sorted, having a neck movement problem i have altered the the handlebars to lift them and move them back slightly again by using an alloy plate and old yamaha single point risers, all i'm waiting for now is some good warm weather so i can ride it again, not having ridden it since two months after i bought it due to a family illness last year. good luck with your rides.

Great review! I have a 2023 Classic 350 in Halcyon Grey. Love it! I always have a soft spot for the Triumph Bonneville, it's always king of the retros to me. But I agree / I do miss the air/oil-cooled models (should have NEVER sold mine ☹). That said the new models are also still very appealing (T120!), but can't fairly be compared to the Classic 350 due to the difference in pricing. Only minor criticism here is pulling hills - the J350 engine doesn't love hills. I have a lot of hills in my area. And I'm average height & weight, even on the thin side. The de-cat mod definitely helped there, and it's manageable enough. Such a fun bike all around!

Agree on all your points. Leds on mine spokes are poor I'm going to try burnishing then try hard lacquer. no bike is perfect. Do all my own servicing. Easy peasy and not worried about warranty 300 quid for 2 valves and an oil change is a joke Had my classic for 2 years. Does everything I want and is a huge improvement over my previous Kawasaki VN900. Why? Character and Soul, something very few bikes these days have. Speedo ? I've got a little condensation, but it still works fine. Will I replace it ? Possibly, but the kph ones are only 60 quid, so that'll do me.

I've got the 2024 chrome bronze as my first bike. I like the yellow head lamp, especially at night while riding, and it suits the style of the bike much better. Happy it's no blue LED. I agree with everything you said! I use the bike everytime I can, for commuting, getting groceries, touring and riding around with my girlfriend. I can't see any reason to upgrade, as long as they don't release a new classic 500 ;)

You might be hitting the rev limiter at around 73mph fella. Fuel x is not needed for filter and cat delete, so I agree to remove it - just runs too rich and uses more fuel. Might be useful in hotter climates when a lean mixture can ause overheating. The headlight needs a better bulb - poss a good quality LED - which will take the load off the charging system as it is not very powerful stock. I love mine though, "Vince" !

I just started watching your videos today. I have been wanting a royal infield for years. I just pulled the trigger and bought one from a dealership in Iowa that had all the mods you were talking about. That dealership is Baxter Cycle - Marne, IA. I am hoping to have a good experience. I am having them install the RSTech belt drive. You have a great videos, I’m glad I stumbled across your videos.

Enjoyed the review. Very good to hear from long term owners for 'real' opinions. I ride a Speedmaster 1200 currently and LOVE it, BUT it has features/issues I don't enjoy and a 350 classic (or maybe the very similar Bullet) might be preferable. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts? Basically I used to ride a 1958 Ariel 650 Huntmaster and I love the classic relaxed (when it's working) ride feel, but can't do the mechanics any more hence I went for a modern classic. I had a T100 and loved that, but found long distance my knee, that I broke years ago, hurts being bent under. The Speedmaster is a fantastic bike and has forward-ish controls so is a modern-classic that is comfortable for me. But, I don't need a 1200. A lower capacity would be a gentler, easier ride, which I would prefer, and I wouldn't be looking for fuel every 80 miles. Also the suspension on the Speedmaster is short, so it can be a bumpy ride and I've heard the REs are a much smoother experience. I can't find one to test ride though! Gah! In the meantime, what do you think? Is the riding position on a classic 350 'right-angles', ie. sat up and knee at 90? Would I be comfortable? (5' 9") Cheers! (check out my channel to see me on my Speedmaster! ;^)

I recently test rode the Triumph 400x Scrambler, the RE 350 Meteor, the RE 650 Interceptor, and the new RE350 Bullet (which is basically the same as the 350 Classic Reborn), as I was looking for a replacement for my five year old Suzuki DRZ400SM. I use the DRZ to commute into the office which is a 22km ride, on 60kph roads that are punctuated by many sets of traffic lights. So outright speed wasn't a requirement, and I was looking for a new experience. I've been riding bikes for over 40 years and have owned everything from a Postie Bike (Honda CT110), all the way to a HD Sport Glide, and for this bike I wanted something that would make going slow fun (if that was possible). Many bikes I've owned have been great at high speed (such as the Hypermotard) or cruising on the Freeway (the HD), but are a pain going slow in traffic. Anyway long story short I took a gamble on the RE 350 Bullet and after two months I'm absolutely beguile by it. There is something about the sum of its parts that just make it enchanting. I love the fact that RE have stuck with the long stroke, fully air cooled, heavy flywheel motor as the experience of riding it, albeit slow, is wonderful. The Triumph 400 is a very modern bike, and you could do anything on it. The engine is a lightweight, short stroke, liquid cooled unit, much like the DRZ's, and it has bags of power (for a 400), but the experience of riding it is just like riding any number of modern bikes, and if that's what you want you won't go wrong. But there are so many bikes like that now, and that makes the RE 350 Classic/Bullet a refreshing change IMHO. Now I find that when I want to go out for a ride that isn't my commute more and more I'm reaching for the 350 Bullet's keys and it feels like a bit of guilty pleasure!

My son just bought a classic 350 he is 36 and I am picking up mine this Saturday and trading in my Versys x300 ....as far as the valve tic you should here to my XR150L that thing has loud valves even after adjustment its a trait i think of air cooled bikes and i think it is more because you are not hiding the ticking like you do with a liquid cool bikes and all the extra covers

YouTube review commentsJune 2024

As usual a very thorough evaluation. I'm considering a bike like this one as it just looks plain gorgeous and the engine is wonderful to go around town and countryside. It would never get old as it was born "matured". Perfect for an old fart like me with no pretense of being a street MotoGP rider. The power comparison vs other equivalent cc bikes is valid but misses an important technical point: Water Cooling. H2O is required to maintain head temperature in a narrow range to keep Greta and her green minions happy. Most air cooled engines have gone out of production with few noticeable exceptions such as Moto Guzzis and RE, all low RPM/low power engines. And even the new RE engines are air/oil cooled to help keeping temp in check. Also, comparing the Classic 350 with the Triumph 400 is equivalent to comparing the 650 RE with a 650 VStrom, different strokes for different characters. Speaking of characters, let's continue our all important chat on bike "Karakter". 😁 You mentioned: "It's got Character and Charm in buckets loads without covering for ride quality " (3':10'), "It's very, very smooth, but not so smooth that they have eradicated all the character out of the bike". Given that the Karakter thing has encompassed attributes such as: "vibrations", "an indefinable thing", "things that makes you fall in love with the motorcycle", "visceral feel", etc. My original take on "Character" was just an European response for poor quality masqueraded as a sublime and undefinable characteristic only accessible to the true "connoisseurs". Bollocks I'd said. Yet, thanks to this video I'm warming up to the idea, with a slight twist. The fact that this bike has "bucket loads of charms and character", yet the engine does not vibrate in the traditional old fashioned "out of balance" way, point to a different definition Karakter. Perhaps, and it's only a theory, this is not about engine vibrations per se, but rather the frequency of the bike and how it helps create a state of mind. Low frequency bikes such as the Classic put you in a serene state of mind where one can enjoy the countryside at a leisure pace. On the other side of the spectrum one can think of a small, high rev two stroke motocross bike that will immediately set your mind racing to the finish line. This interactions bike/rider is a combination of the immediate emotions associated with the frequency level coupled with previous experiences one has accumulated over time. Just food for thought. Keep up the good work.

I'm installing the Future Eyes F2 spot light-fog lamp (2x60 watt LED) on the OEM engine guard, functionally it works great as per my other ADV bikes. But visually, it looks out of place with the classic look of my Meteor 350. For my future reference, what is the size of your fog lamp? 3,5 inch or 4,5 inch in diameter?
