Been riding this variant (The Standard) for the past 2.5 months (not converted to Battalion), and it clearly targets a very specific kind of rider.
This is for someone who values authenticity over trends:
• Proper retro character, not a modern reinterpretation
• Halogen setup instead of flashy LEDs
• Genuine chrome engine and exhaust, not blacked-out styling
• No unnecessary electronics
• Strong parts availability
• Reliable and widespread service network
• Low maintenance cost
In today’s market, this stands out as one of the most raw and truly retro machines you can buy. It doesn’t try to be modern, it stays rooted in what a classic motorcycle should feel like.
It’s also priced more sensibly than the Royal Enfield Classic 350, even when comparing closely matched variants.
The Classic 350 is undoubtedly more stylish and appealing to many, but it has also become extremely common, especially the Stealth Black variant. Matte finishes, particularly on the engine and exhaust are hard to maintain and keep clean, especially in Indian conditions.
Within the Classic lineup, the Halcyon Black variant comes closest to a true retro feel, thanks to its gloss black paint and chrome engine and exhaust. However, the dual-disc version of this variant has been discontinued, which limits its practicality for some riders.
So, “The Standard” variant of the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 ends up being the most sensible choice for a specific mindset.. someone who prefers simplicity, durability, and a true old-school feel over modern styling trends.
One more important point.. ground clearance:
The Bullet 350 dual-disc variants offers 170 mm, which is the same as dual-disc variants of the Classic 350.
However, both Classic and Bullet models with a rear drum brake have 160 mm ground clearance. That 10 mm difference comes from the brake pedal lever design.. it runs below the exhaust pipe in drum variants. Also, when you press the brake, the lever dips further down, effectively reducing ground clearance even more in real riding conditions.
