The Punch. Recently bought a Tata Punch CNG in Pune after researching its impressive 26.99 km/kg ARAI mileage, perfect for city commutes and cutting fuel costs amid rising prices. The test drive at the local Tata showroom was smooth; the twin-cylinder iCNG setup felt responsive despite the CNG mode, with seamless petrol-CNG switching. Handling was nimble on pothole-ridden roads, and the cabin felt spacious for a micro-SUV. The AC cooled quickly, a plus in Maharashtra's heat. After 1,000 km, real-world mileage hit 22/24km/kg in mixed traffic, better than my old WagonR. Servicing seems affordable at Rs 3,500/year. Minor gripe: boot space shrinks due to cylinders, but the design tucks them under the floor smartly. Overall, thrilled with the value and eco-friendly drive. Tata Punch CNG provides decent driving comfort for city use, with a high seating position and supportive seats that reduce fatigue on long drives. The 1.2L engine outputs 72 bhp and 103 Nm on CNG (87 bhp/115 Nm on petrol), offering adequate low-end pull for traffic but sluggish acceleration with AC or full load. Overtaking on highways requires planning due to muted throttle response; AMT variants ease city shifts for relaxed driving.

Go for it. The buying experience was excellent..In the beginning, they informed to before 15feb.. car reached the showroom on 10th Feb For the family, it's best in the segment. Well-balanced car Looks superb Service is required after 10000 km drive...I have driven 200 km till date. Pros looks comfortable, under budget for the middle class. provides safety. I would recommend this for a person around 40 yrs whose priority is more towards family safety Cons: none for under this price

Most VFM car in the segment. Pros: 1. 360 degree camera is like a magic and makes your life easier in congested areas. 2. NVH levels are surprisingly very low for a 3 Cyl engine, even sometimes I forgot the engine is running and tried to lock the car, noise is that low. 3.Gives a confidence to drive especially in highways and sharp turns.. handling is top notch. 4. Fuel efficiency is very good considering this heavy build and three cylinder engine, easily getting 14 to 15 on cities and 20+ on highways that too before first service. 5.Easily Mogs the other cars at this segment in looks, especially the Bengal Rouge Red and coorg cloud silver color. 6.Inst FE feature is good for keeping the mileage in check. 7.Suspension is very good,I would say best in this segment, only citreon is better than this. Cons: 1. Pickup is too low, like when you slowdown for the speed breaker, after that it takes forever to catch up in speed till 50kmph..it was frustrating. 2.Fit and finish is not perfect, panel gaps are visible. 3.Pillar is very thick ,sometimes you need to lean forward to get better visibility in turns. 4.no weight sensors in the rear seat for seat belt warning. 5.AMT head nod is very notable in low speeds.

Punch CNG have no Punch actually but Efficiency is impeccable.. The Car is good in safety-wise, or else I would say the best in class at this price range. However, as TATA is known for its bad after-sales and panel gaps, which are also present in the car and feels bad after paying a good amount of money. But the steering feedback is good, and if you drive alone, 2 people are there in the car, then the car feels punchy, but if there are 4 people, it lags, which feels bad but manageable. The mileage in CNG is around 25-28 km per kg of gas and around 12-15 kmpl on petrol. The plastic quality is not that great and doesn't feel premium. The AC is great and a superb experience in summer. The windshield is quite big, which makes it easy to drive the car, and the boot space is also good. The speakers are just wonderful and the best in class. Overall, a great car to buy and go with the white colour of it, as it is quite finished from the company's end and looks premium as well.

I am having Punch Adventure Cng AMT and the mentioned points are absolutely correct about the driver seat leg space, Lag in 2nd gear shifting, quick gear shifting issue, finishing problems, in petrol gives only 8kmpl in bumper to bumper, cng 18 kmpl even in low traffic.

Definitely not suitable for city.. The car is absolutely perfect for the highway with 20 to 22 miles per gallon and good safety features. But the engine has just enough power for normal riding; if you need more, suppose to overtake, then it is going to be a hurdle. It has probably the worst city mileage of any car, especially at bumper-to-bumper city traffic in Delhi, where I drive.

Basically, almost all cars with a kerb weight of 1,000 kg or more will typically deliver around 9–10 km/l in city driving, depending on traffic and driving conditions. If safety is the priority, we should understand that there can be a trade-off with mileage. A heavier, structurally stronger vehicle generally needs more energy to move, so expecting very high mileage along with strong safety is not always realistic.

A Stylish and Comfortable Companion, but Lacks Premium Lighting. I have been using the Tata Punch for some time now, and it has been a reliable and comfortable car for my daily needs. It strikes a great balance between a compact city car and a spacious SUV-like experience, making it a strong contender in its segment. Pros: Design: The car has a fantastic road presence. The bold, SUV-inspired design looks modern and stands out on the road. Comfort & Space: The cabin is impressively spacious for its size, and the seats provide excellent comfort, even during longer drives. It feels roomy and well-thought-out for passengers. Fuel Efficiency: I am quite satisfied with the mileage. In city traffic, it consistently delivers around 15 km/l, and on highway runs, it impressively touches 20 km/l. Cons: Lighting Visibility: The biggest drawback for me is the headlight performance. The visibility at night is quite poor, which makes driving on unlit roads challenging. I strongly feel Tata should have provided brighter LED lights as standard. Missing Features: A hill-hold assist feature would have been a great addition, especially for city driving in hilly terrain or stop-and-go traffic on inclines. Verdict: The Tata Punch is a brilliant package in terms of aesthetics, interior comfort, and fuel economy. If you are looking for a practical and stylish city car, this is definitely worth considering. However, if you do a lot of night driving, you might want to look into aftermarket lighting upgrades.

CarWale owner reviewsOctober 2026

My overall ownership experience with the Tata Punch has been very positive. What I particularly enjoy is the engine performance. The engine feels smoo. Overall, my ownership experience with the Tata Punch has been quite good. The ride quality and suspension are the highlights, especially on bad roads and potholes. The seats are reasonably comfortable for long drives, although they could have better thigh support. The car has a good set of features for its segment, and the high seating position gives a good view of the road. The suspension feels well suited for Indian road conditions and absorbs most bumps nicely. Overall, I would say the Punch is a comfortable and practical car for both city driving and occasional highway trips. The main areas where I feel there is room for improvement are refinement, cabin noise and some of the feature/infotainment experience. I am very happy with the car overall, but the service experience has been disappointing. The service centre needs to improve its responsiveness and quality of work. Mileage is another area that could be better, as the real-world fuel efficiency is only average, especially in city driving.

Compact SUV Feel with Strong Build – Tata Punch Review. Buying the Tata Punch was a special moment for me, and it truly feels like more than just a car. From day one, its bold SUV-inspired design and high seating position gave me confidence on the road. Driving around Hooghly, especially on uneven roads, has been very comfortable thanks to its excellent suspension and strong build quality. It genuinely feels safe and solid. The compact size makes city driving and parking super easy, while the mileage is practical for daily use. What I love most is how it handles rough roads without any stress—it’s perfect for Indian conditions. The only small drawback is that the engine could feel slightly more powerful on highways, but for city driving, it performs well. Overall, the Tata Punch is not just a car, it’s an experience—perfect for anyone looking for style, safety, and comfort in a budget-friendly package. Regular servicing and smooth driving will keep it performing at its best for years.

Nice Car, best safety ever, safest car!. I own a Tata Punch, and honestly, it has been a very good experience for me. The car feels very strong and safe on the road. The build quality is excellent and you can clearly feel the solidity while driving. The ground clearance is very helpful on bad roads and speed breakers, which is common on Indian roads. The driving position is comfortable and the visibility from the driver's seat is great. The steering is light in the city and the car is easy to handle in traffic. For a compact car, the space inside is also quite good. The infotainment system and basic features are practical for daily use. Mileage is decent and the car is reliable for regular driving. Maintenance from Tata service has also been satisfactory. Overall, the Tata Punch is a strong, practical and safe car for daily use. I am satisfied with my purchase and I would definitely give it 5 stars.

TATA Punch AMT. The Tata Punch Automatic is a smart and practical choice for city driving, especially for those who want comfort, safety, and a strong build. The AMT gearbox makes daily traffic stress-free and works smoothly for regular urban use. Its compact size makes it easy to maneuver and park, while the high ground clearance and SUV-like stance give confidence on bad roads and speed breakers. The build quality feels solid, and Tata’s 5-star Global NCAP safety rating adds great peace of mind. Inside, the cabin is spacious for its segment, with comfortable seating and a user-friendly infotainment system. Features like cruise control, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, and good air conditioning enhance the driving experience. The suspension handles rough patches well, making rides comfortable for passengers. Overall, the Tata Punch Automatic is a reliable, safe, and value-for-money car, ideal for city commuters and small families looking for a hassle-free automatic vehicle.

Last year (Feb 2025), I was thinking of either getting a Honda Amaze or a Tiago petrol variant. Then, the government started E20 blending, making me hesitate. I decided to wait it out or go for diesel. Then, as 2026 began, things got worse. So finally, I decided that I don't want to deal with the unpredictability of the fuel system, especially since it is not in my hands. Now, I already booked the Punch EV top model last month and am waiting for the delivery. For anyone who doesn't want to deal with the anxiety that comes with owning fossil fuel vehicles that can become useless overnight if the government decides it, go for an EV.
