Very Good Satisfactory Car Best In Price Range. Comfortable & smooth driving experience, looking good, mileage is also good, engine performance is very silent and zero vibrations. Same i have exter sx cng - for first car owner - 4 cylinder engine - 32 average on highway and city 22-24 - sunroof - fit and finish - under 10lac - ground cleanse - smooth gearbox and clutch Cons - Smaller than fronx in same. Price Petrol mileage very low Little expensive servicing No boot space - gen 1 cng fitting
It is a better alternative to Punch as comes with 4 cylinder engine, good set of features and is reliable more than a Tata. Punch wins in build quality but reliability and service maintenance is a very big issue.
I have exeter amt, can anyone confirm that it roll backs over inclinations sometimes the hill assist does work mostly on steep ones but the behavior is random. Please share your experiences exter amt owners. There’s a note on mirror saying use handbrake to avoid roll back so mostly amts hill assist is not trustworthy i guess.
Using the SX model car last one year.. Pros : Good for family Lots of features, fit and finish is good, nice engine, good mileage if you are not driving hard.visibility is good.good space overall. Cons: under power engine quick overtaking will be challenging highway and hill stations , no confidence after 120km speed.some say back suspension issues but not find any issues with 6 people also (yes it may look tyre gap is less with wheel arch but you have enough space under the wheel arch). Who to buy: for small Family,anyway you will not going to drive hard. If need good features.
Bought exter sx amt knight edition this month... a wonderful engine, great interiors, superior cabin experience, loaded features, cruise control, VSM, traction control, Hill hold assist, 6 standard airbags, less body roll, decent build quality, fancy features like sunroof.... all this at less than 10 Lakhs... Still sells less than cars that are pretty average... What more do Indian car buyers want????
I have Punch and its feel the same, Other than riding comfort nothing is present in Punch. Lacks in pickup, in just 1.5 years lot of noise coz of poor cheap fit and finish, Lacks in climbing hill need to climp in 1st gear most of the time. Atleast Exter got 4 cylinder to do the job easily
I have the top model manual hyundai exter, and I also agree with your main point! For those wondering about the mileage, let me tell you it’s good. In the city, I have experienced 9 to 12 km, sometimes even 14 to 16km. It depends on the traffic and how you drive. I recently went to jaipur; I live in delhi and had three friends with me, along with travel bags. The ac was always on, and the exter was giving a mileage of 18.2 km. In traffic, the mileage isn’t great, but if we talk about build quality, features, and overall performance, it’s really good. Believe me, this car gives you the feeling that you are driving a really nice vehicle. Some of my favorite features include wireless charging, cruise control, support for both android auto and apple carplay, a voice assistant that can understand both english and hinglish, auto-fold mirrors, and a camera that records the inside and front of the car the moment you start it. The camera quality and audio are really good, and even the parking camera quality is good. The exter sits between good safety and a good amount of features. It’s perfectly balanced for its price.

The perfect ride for city rides with some catch. I love most of the things it offers at this budget; the ride comfort, fit and finish,the cabin space and so on. Initially i was about to go for fronx or punch as most of the comparative videos and reviewers suggest, but the coupe design of fronx gave it off (limited cargo) and then the after-sales service of tata (lagging behind in competition). So exter was the most rounded option (4 cylinder 1.2 l engine, compact dimension not so big not so small just the right size for my liking ) Then the facelift was announced and loo the new exteriors/interior got more good looking with just some changes here and there . Especially the driver's side armrest and sporty spoiler. Riding with 5 onboard is quite comfortable(4 adult 1 child) but it feels slightly delayed accelerating as compared to fronx and puch in same conditions (i have tested on these two also; with fronx being turbo one), and again exters overalls like least cabin noise , space and comfort felt better among the three . So i opted for exter. And here comes the not-so-good part Watered down the top manual transmission variant (previously sx and sxo had a manual option, but now a new nomenclature has been introduced, striped hx8 from some features that i was keen on having in a top manual variant) 1 buildt in gps navigation 2 dual dashcam front & cabin recording( only front recording in my hx8 manual) 3 adaptive guidelines in reversing mode and drvm button 4 soft close roof grab handles All these were present in last year's SX/sxo manual transmission, but it got pulled back to the HX10 only which amt only varient sadly. And one more nitpick would be a missing sunglass holder at the roof. Recently completed 500kms with my exterior HX8, and its a fun to ride car.
Solution 1: Install Suspension Buffer especially from Roger. This will smooth out potholes even when driving with full capacity. Solution 2: You are talking about comfort. But then why are you comparing it with Grand i10 Nios? People like you always try to demean great cars at affordable prices. Come on. The comparison with Grand i10 Nios won't work for those who are shifting from other company car or may be buying this as beginner car. For them it is damn comfortable. See you can feel claustrophobic. But feeling varies from person to person. One small suggestion: when you are feeling claustrophobic, open the sunroof cover, not the glass, more light will come inside cabin, you'll immediately start feeling less claustrophobic 😊😊😊. Solution 3: You're talking about lag. Can u please tell me which car among this class offers 4 cylinder? In my opinion, only Hyundai offers 4 cylinder under 1200cc engine under ₹10L. Even the nearest and the best match Tata Punch also offers 3 cylinder engine with vibration inside cabin. Brother, trust me, u don't need more power to drive in 80 to 90kmph on highway. On hill also, it performs identical than Punch. In some cases it performs Better than Punch on Hill road. So, may be Hyundai may not have paid u hefty amount to say good things, but don't make people fool with your negative comments. At least this is not expected from a person like u whom I admire a lot. The word built quality gets thrown around soo much in this country.. built quality means fit and finish and the quality of the materials, not this BS or safety ratings.
It's purely hatchback, i10 nios + getz = exter, nothing special, don't tell mini, micro SUV, without option Hyundai launched this car to showcase against punch, over hyped car, nothing special, practically sunroof not needed it's just cosmetic, build quality average as Hyundai DNA, Update version of nios i10 with cosmetic changes. I've been driving the Exter SX(O) for the last six months , around 5,000 kilometers on both highways and city roads. Pros: * The car's size makes it perfect for crowded streets and narrow roads. * The build quality is quite good. * The engine is very quiet. * I've managed to get a maximum mileage of 25 km/L on petrol in manual , but the average is between 14 and 20 km/L. * It's a very basic car, ideal for everyday use. Cons: * The headlights aren't bright enough. * It's definitely not an SUV. It's a crossover hatchback. * The suspension feels very uncomfortable on long drives, especially for rear seat passengers.
